What is our funding objective?

FMO supports TLcom Capital LLP in organizing the TLcom Africa Tech Female Founder Summit, a one-day in-person event providing female founders across Africa with mentorship, leadership development, and networking opportunities. The overall objective is to help women-led tech startups in Africa strengthen their capacity to scale & succeed in their markets

Why do we fund this investment?

This project aligns with the Community Engagement strategy and objectives of the FMO Ventures Program to support our fund investees in their community events, as this strengthens their capacity as a firm to continue to create value-adding events to their portfolio and broader ecosystem. This project leverages the convening power of TLcom Capital LLP by bringing together a diverse group of entrepreneurs, investors, and stakeholders, which aligns with the objectives of community engagement in the EC TA agreement. The summit, expected to receive 136 female founder participants, provides a collaborative platform that fosters knowledge sharing, best practices, and professional connections. This project aligns with FMO's mission to provide financial support and enhance the entrepreneurial ecosystem through meaningful stakeholder engagement. The result is a stronger network of female-led businesses empowered to scale and thrive, creating a sustainable impact in local communities. This network addresses critical challenges in gender representation and economic inclusion, promoting long-term development in the African tech landscape. It also fits FMO's mission to enhance gender equality and female representation in the entrepreneurial tech ecosystem. Female founders in Africa face significant challenges, including limited access to mentorship, investment, and networking opportunities. The Africa Tech Female Founder Summit will create a platform for female entrepreneurs to connect with investors, mentors, and industry peers, addressing these gaps and supporting the development of female-led tech companies. By fostering gender equity and inclusive economic growth, the summit contributes directly to promoting entrepreneurship in Africa.
