Who is our customer
I&M Bank Limited (I&M Bank) is a Tier 1 bank in Kenya. I&M Bank is part of I&M Holdings, which has a presence in Kenya, Mauritius, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda. I&M is an existing customer of FMO since 2010.
What is our funding objective?
To support I&M Bank to better understand, identify, and act to manage climate-related risks in its portfolio and to take strategic implementation to capture climate-related opportunities. This will be achieved by using guidance from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) and recommendations from the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) to train the bank’s personnel, develop an Implementation plan, develop a climate risk scan of I&M’s loan portfolio as well as scenarios for stress testing.
Why do we fund this investment?
This project as an opportunity to deepen the relationship with I&M Bank, support them in adapting to changing local requirements, and to play an active role in their journey to a sustainable financial institution and an agent of change.
