Who is our customer
Sembrar Sartawi is a privately owned Bolivia based Microfinance institution that focuses on the financing for rural and agricultural borrowers as well as urban microentrepreneurs in Bolivia. As of December 2020, it has total assets of USD 60 mln.
What is our funding objective?
This facility, which has a USD 4mln committed tranche and a USD 2mln uncommitted tranche, is directed to the financing of agricultural micro-entrepreneurs in areas impacted by climate change, supporting economic growth and employment, reducing inequalities and climate action.
Why do we fund this investment?
The facility encourages the expansion of access to financial services to agricultural microentrepreneurs in areas impacted by climate change, particularly needed after the Covid-19 emergency.
What is the Environmental and Social categorization rationale?
The client has been categorised as Category C in accordance with FMO’s Sustainability Policy. The Client’s activities are deemed to have minimal or no adverse environmental and social risks and/or impacts. As part of the transaction, Sartawi will continue to comply with Bolivian E&S laws and regulations.
