Who is our customer

The Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) is the Kenyan financial sector's leading advocacy group and the umbrella body of the institutions licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). Currently the KBA has 47 financial institution members. The KBA aims to reinforce a reputable and professional banking sector in a bid to best support Kenyans who entrust their resources with its member banks.

What is our funding objective?

This project aims to support the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) and Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), in collaboration with the Climate Bond Initiative (CBI), in the design and implementation of a comprehensive Green Bond market development program.

Why do we fund this investment?

This program would accelerate the take-up of green bonds as a tool for Kenya to tap into international and domestic capital markets to finance green projects and assets. It would also allow domestic banks and corporates to better deliver green investments such as renewable energy, low-carbon transport, water infrastructure, and sustainable agriculture in Kenya.
