Who is our customer

Microinvest is a Moldovan MFI and was established by the Soros Foundation in 2013. The MFI provides finance to small businesses in rural and urban areas in the country. Microinvest is Moldova’s second largest MFI based on assets and one of the few MFIs in the country to serve micro and small businesses in rural areas, ensuring access to finance for entrepreneurs, agricultural producers and farmers.

What is our funding objective?

The purpose of the project is to strengthen the organization by focusing on a set of interventions that collectively aim to enhance internal efficiency and operational excellence. The project should in the long-run lead to sustainable improvements of the company’s business performance.

Why do we fund this investment?

The strategy of Microinvest fits well with FMO’s aim to enhance inclusive development, the company serves customers often neglected by traditional banks in urban and rural areas. With this contribution FMO supports Microinvest in the overall improvement of its operational performance which enables Microinvest to better serve its clients and to reach out to new clients.
