Who is our customer
Kompanion Financial Group (Kompanion, predecessor to Kompanion Bank) was established in 2004 through the consolidation of five microcredit agencies established by Mercy Corps, a US-based international relief and development organization (www.mercycorps.org). Kompanion is one of the largest microfinance institutions in the Kyrgyz Republic with a loan portfolio of approximately USD58.5 million and 113.000 clients as of year end 2015. In 2015 Kompanion completed the first phase of its transformation to a licensed bank and in January 2016 it received a full banking license from the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.
What is our funding objective?
To support Kompanion Bank’s implementation of individual lending with the support of international consultants.
Why do we fund this investment?
This project is in line with FMO’s strategy and MASSIF prioritites as this project supports the responsible growth of the MFI and hence the availability of services for micro and small entrepreneurs in rural Kyrgysztan.
