Koppert Biological Systems moving into the Brasilian market

January 30, 2013

The Dutch magazine for the horticulture sector Kas Magazine  has a monthly section about Dutch horticulture entrepreneurs with subsidiairies or joint ventures in emerging markets. FMO is supporting these entrepreneurs with the Fund Emerging Markets - a joint initiative of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and FMO.

Current issue of Kas Magazine features an interview with Paul Koppert, managing director of Koppert Biological Systems. They produce biological crop protection and natural pollination. Last year they took over Itaforte, a Brasilian producer of microbiology products. In this article he explains the rationale and the opportunities he sees for his products in the Brasilian market. For the full article (Dutch only), please click here

The Fund Emerging Markets provides medium and long term loans to companies or joint ventures in emerging markets that are majority owned or controlled by Dutch enterprises. In many cases, no appropriate commercial financing is available for these joint ventures and subsidiaries for the construction or expansion of a production plant or to buy new equipment. Also, tenors are often too short or excessive security is needed.
