Fintech is radically altering the financial world, with start-ups using technology that upends how traditional financial services are delivered. The World Economic Forum has analysed the extent to which fintech firms have already transformed the financial industry, and concludes that while they have changed the bases of competition, they have not yet materially altered the competitive landscape.
The WEF also predicts an increase in platforms that allow interaction with multiple financial players through a single channel, regional financial services better able to respond to customer needs, and increasing reliance on the largest financial technology firms.
