Circular transition could reduce EU carbon emissions by 50%: consultancy

June 18, 2018

Swedish sustainability consultancy Material Economics estimates that implementing circular economy practices could cut Europe’s industrial carbon emissions in half by 2050.

The steel, plastics, aluminium and cement industries, as well as two sectors that are major users of these materials – passenger cars and construction – could prevent 300 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually by adopting circular business models, boosting recirculation of materials and designing more material-efficient products.
