Worldwide the number of businesses with at least one woman in a senior position has risen over the last year, but the actual proportion of senior roles occupied has declined, according to the Women in Business 2018 report from accounting firm Grant Thornton. While many businesses have policies that promotes diversity, these appear not to have resulted in significant change, the authors say. To implement effectively policies in areas including equal pay, non-discriminatory recruitment and flexible hours, businesses need to make diversity a core value and to set measurable goals, the report says.
