Having previously estimated that $1trn a year of investment was needed to achieve the renewable energy goals required to prevent a rise in global temperatures above 2°C, sustainability consultancy Ceres says the target is coming into view. In a new report, In Sight of the Clean Trillion, Ceres argues that renewable energy is delivering improving financial returns and becoming more competitive than fossil fuels such as coal. The consultancy, which examines financial avenues for investing in clean energy and analyses risk assessment strategies, identifies the low-emission vehicle sector as a magnet for substantial investment.
