Minister Kaag visits Dutch development bank FMO

June 7, 2018

Today, Mrs Sigrid Kaag, the Dutch minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation has paid a visit to the Dutch development bank FMO.

Minister Kaag spoke with FMO staff about the new policy ‘Investing in Global Prospects; for the world, for the Netherlands’ and exchanged ideas on the role that FMO as a development bank can play in achieving the ambitions of the Dutch government set by the new policy.

Minister Kaag stated: “Inclusive economic growth is the model that connects all countries, that is people-centred and focusses on human rights – but also looks at opportunities. I want to leverage opportunities and prospects. By investing in a more stable and inclusive world, we will also have a positive effect in the Netherlands. The SDGs are the centre stage for all of this.”

The new policy connects very well with FMO’s current strategy and offers ample opportunities for FMO to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda. It supports existing instruments, funds and facilities of FMO or related to FMO and calls for new, innovative solutions.
