FMO in MoMo panel to select innovative climate business case

July 6, 2016

Two awards of €30.000 for the best climate business cases

Organisations and companies with an innovative business case focused on promoting either climate change mitigation or adaptation in a developing country, can now compete to receive support to further develop and receive (partial) finance for their business case. The Mobilising More (MoMo) initiative provides expert feedback as well as two times EUR 30.000 of award money for submitted business cases that have strong potential to positively impact climate change. Project proposals can be submitted on the MoMo website: www.momo4climate.org. The upcoming round closes at 1 September.

Energy research Centre Netherlands (ECN), the Netherlands Committee of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN NL) and the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, work together in the MoMo initiative to  encourage the development of innovative projects to mobilise more private climate finance for developing countries in the clean tech, food, agro and water sectors.

MoMo is looking for promising projects that fulfil the following criteria:

  • The project is focused on the clean tech, food, agro, or water sector

  • The project’s intervention is aimed at a developing country

  • The project contains the involvement of at least one Dutch organization

  • The project is realistic and actionable

  • The project is concrete and has potential for upscaling

The MoMo Secretariat, consisting of ECN, IUCN NL and the NL MFA, evaluates the submitted project ideas and advises submitters on possible improvements. Consequently a selection of the best proposals is submitted to the MoMo panel, consisting of financial experts from Triodos Bank, NLII, FMO, BZ, PYMWYMIC, CSC Finance, and RVO. The panel will in turn narrow down the selection by critically reviewing the proposals. The proponents of the best proposals will be invited to pitch their cases during the annual MoMo closing event to compete for the €30.000 in support, intended for the perfection of the two most promising business cases for both climate change adaptation and mitigation.
