news - Is multilateral development bank funding effective in curbing climate change?

The World Resources Institute has conducted a study analysing the effectiveness of the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, and the Asian Development Bank in financing implementation of the UN Development Goals and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Although the organisations track and report on their climate finance activity, there is less information about how their investments in energy projects and portfolios relate to achievement of climate change objectives.

The report provides guidance on energy funding that can assist in meeting Paris Agreement goals, especially regarding proven technologies as well as other, sometimes more controversial approaches.
