Who is our customer
The Co-Operative Bank of Kenya (Co-Op) was established in 1965 and became a commercial bank in 1994. It currently ranks among the top-tier banks in Kenya. The largest portion of Co-Op's clientele are individuals and SMEs. Through the broad network of co-operatives, the bank is able to reach clients in the remotest parts of the country, especially in agribusiness.
What is our funding objective?
FMO is providing a USD 20 mln long-term credit facility, which has been earmarked for SMEs.
Why do we fund this investment?
Long-term finance is not readily available in Kenya. Through this facility, FMO is supporting Co-Op to further expand their loan portfolio in the SME segment and thereby strengthening a crucial segment to the Kenyan economy.
