The short answer is to advance the impact I make. After eight years of being an ESG professional at a commercial bank in Africa, there was an opportunity at FMO to broaden my ESG journey. In my early career I worked closely with FMO on one of its indirect investments in Nigeria. That period has held a special place in my professional heart. At a certain point of time, I had an eye on FMO’s career website. The job alert informed me about the new job opening. I applied. The very smooth and transparent process made me feel at home at FMO from the start. For me it is the best of two worlds: growing as an ESG+ professional while being in a truly international company where I can advance my impact, located in The Netherlands.
What I miss the most is not work-related. It is more about my friends and family. FMO’s Working Remote Abroad policy helps to stay in touch. It is a great benefit which I appreciated very much, as it gives me the right work and personal balance.

As an international at FMO you can shine and bring your cultural background to the workplace. We have lots of in-house intercultural events. From organizing our annual Africa Day for our colleagues to the celebration of Diwali or sharing an Eid al Fitr dinner together. We learn a lot from each other. In addition, we exchange our experiences about life in the Netherlands. I have one more tip if you come to the Netherlands. To be successful in another country you need to prepare yourself well. What is it like to live in the Netherlands? For example, do research about the costs of living here, schooling for your children and off course the Dutch language. These are some of the questions that helped me to come here well prepared.
I am the person who likes to have some me-time to relax. I enjoy indoor and outdoor gaming as well, including playing in the FMO soccer team. At FMO we have a lot of sports enthusiasts, so it's perfect for me!
