Your role

As part of your internship, you will participate in a variety of activities related to Knowledge Management and will provide you with some learning opportunities:

  • Gain skills in developing and managing SharePoint sites, pages, and content to enhance user experience and information accessibility.
  • Develop the ability to create and distribute knowledge products such as presentations, articles, and tutorial videos tailored to diverse audiences across an organization.
  • Support with the creation of knowledge products for dissemination purposes, for example, preparing presentations, articles, and blogs for external audiences.
  • Write and contribute to KM related content for FMO’s intranet, newsletter, and Viva Engage.
  • Learn techniques for effectively gathering, organizing, and structuring different types of content to ensure easy access and maintenance.
  • Acquire skills in analyzing metrics to provide valuable insights and inform knowledge management strategies.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing, lesson learning, and collaboration activities.
  • Review, test, and help improve KM products, quick wins, and solutions.

The team

The Strategy department consists of 4 teams being: Strategic Planning; Sustainability Strategy & Policy; Portfolio Management Office; and Evaluations & Knowledge Management, with in total nearly 30 colleagues. The management team consists of the Strategy Director and 4 managers. 

This internship role will be within Strategy’s Evaluations and Knowledge Management team (EKM), specifically within Knowledge Management.  

 Within Knowledge Management at FMO, we work to: 

  • Codify, curate, and provide access to critical knowledge.
  • Enable organizational collaboration, learning, and innovation.
  • Work to integrate people, process, and technology.
  • Provide people complete and equitable access to information. 

Your background

To apply for this six-month internship, you must be: 

  • a third- or fourth-year HBO or MSc student, currently enrolled in a program in The Netherlands.
  • eligible to receive credits (ECTs) for this internship, either for your thesis or as part of your curriculum.
  • available for a period of six months, four days per week preferably starting around mid-March 2025. 
  • living in The Netherlands.

This opportunity will be a great combination to your studies if you: 

  • Are studying or have studied in a field related to Development Studies, Business or Economics, Communications, Marketing, Knowledge Management, Information Management, Library Studies, or Learning and Development 
  • Are proficient with Office 365 tools, particularly Microsoft SharePoint, PowerBI, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint, or you are open and able to learn (new) technologies 
  • Have writing, editing, video-making/editing, and visualization skills.
  • Have an affinity with FMO’s mission, interest in the field of (global) development, developing countries, and impact investing.
  • Have an affinity to work on projects related to graphic design, publications, marketing and/or communications.
  • Are proficient in English.

 FMO offers an internship compensation of Euro 750 net based on a 5-day work week.
