Your role

As Portfolio Officer, you oversee the Agribusiness Food & Water Africa team's portfolio management. You manage specific clients and coach junior staff members. As Portfolio Officer you report to the Manager Africa and often interact with other Portfolio Officers in the Agribusiness, Food & Water department.

Activities:

Coordinate monitoring a portfolio of (20+) complex contracted investments:

  • Oversees the total portfolio and identifies potential (financial) risks, including breaches and non-compliance​s.
  • Has final responsibility on quality and timeliness of internal documents related to the designated client portfolio​.
  • Participate portfolio related departmental or wider organizational projects.

Portfolio management of own clients:

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, identifying potential (financial) risks, including breaches and non-compliance with conditions.
  • Builds relationships with existing clients on an operational working level​.
  • Travel in line with the supervision requirements of the portfolio.
  • Identify and participate in opportunities for repeat transactions and capacity development opportunities with clients.
  • Prepare and / or supervises credit reviews and other client related documents. ​
  • Work with key internal stakeholders, such as environmental and social experts, legal and mid-office.

Coaching and training of portfolio administrators, analysts and associates:

  • Oversee, mentor, and help portfolio administrators, analysts, and associates with their daily tasks. Emphasize risk identification, financial analysis, and writing quality.

Our offer

  • Gross yearly salary of between EUR 90K-110 on a 40 hour basis (including holiday allowance and 13th month salary), depending on seniority, years of experience and background.

Your team

The Agribusiness, Food & Water department contributes to sustainable food security globally, using fewer resources. This department focuses on economic growth, rural development, and climate change by investing in companies that support a sustainable value chain. The department has five distinct investment teams. Each team oversees a specific region or sub-sector, such as Africa, Latin America & The Caribbean, East and Central Asia, or Forestry. This structure enables us to develop customized strategies and create a high-performance culture.

Our Africa team consists of 14 investment professionals with diverse backgrounds and work in our offices in The Hague, Johannesburg, and Nairobi. This role though is based in The Hague, the Netherlands.

You have strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills. These help you tackle challenges with a systematic and effective approach. You have strong risk awareness, which helps you identify financial and non-financial risks at client, country, and portfolio levels.

You take ownership when needed while delegating appropriately and are adept at managing multiple assignments simultaneously. Your administration skills are well-developed, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy in your work.
