Your role

As Compliance Officer you will be part of the Organizational & Personal Integrity (O&PI) team and report to the manager of the team. We seek a Compliance Officer who focuses on 2nd line Monitoring. Additionally, the officer will handle other compliance topics like Training & Awareness and Conflict of Interest.

There will be ample possibilities to learn and develop broader compliance knowledge on various compliance topics of O&PI team. A brief description of the activities of the Organizational and Personal Integrity team amongst others:

  • Advising (senior) management and staff on Organizational and Personal Integrity topics;
  • Contributing towards the periodic and event-driven systematic integrity risk analysis (SIRA);
  • Contributing to the internal control framework of Compliance (identifying, monitoring and testing of key controls in the compliance domain);
  • Contributing to the risk awareness and control environment of Compliance by e.g. conducting/facilitating the risk control self-assessments, updating the compliance risk appetite statements;
  • Providing compliance trainings (face to face, groups) on topics within your field of expertise, thereby raising risk awareness, and sharing knowledge.

Your team

The Compliance department (± 18 FTE) supports the FMO organization in ensuring - and demonstrating - sound and controlled business conduct. The Compliance department of FMO offers proactive advice on various Compliance topics. It helps the FMO organization operate according to relevant legal and regulatory standards and within its integrity risk tolerance.

The department consists of 2 teams: Customer Integrity and Organizational & Personal Integrity (8 FTE). The Compliance Organizational and Personal Integrity team includes senior compliance officers. They handle regulatory change management, compliance monitoring and reporting, training, and awareness. Additionally, subject matter experts focus on organizational and personal integrity, such as market abuse and conflicts of interest. market abuse, conflicts of interest and private investments).

Your background

We are seeking someone who shows high commitment and drives themselves to excel. You are pro-active and communicate in a clear and professional way, taking into account different stakeholder perspectives. You have experience working in an international context and can build connections within and outside the team. You hold yourself accountable and take responsibility. In addition, you are willing to invest in yourself and to share knowledge within and outside the team.

We are looking for someone who is willing to acquire wider knowledge and experience of Compliance related topics and specifically in 2nd line compliance risk management.

The required educational background/experience, characteristics and skills of the Compliance Officer are:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in preferably Law, Economics or Business Administration;
  • At least 2-4 years of relevant compliance experience in the financial industry;
  • Experience or willingness to take up various compliance topics together with other colleagues of the team;
  • Fluent in English in writing and verbally;
  • Helpful and supporting other colleagues within the team, where needed.

Please note that for this role, you need to have a proficiency level in Dutch and English and be living currently in The Netherlands.
