In your role, you will have the freedom to specify responsibilities to match your professional development requirements and interests. You are involved in specific projects and will be responsible for handling or supporting incoming requests. As these are quite frequent, it is important to have good time management and communication skills.

 As an intern, you will:

  • (co-) manage FMO’s internal channels and keep them up to date.
  • review and (help) publish blogs written by FMO employees.
  • write and review different internal news items.
  • manage the CSE mailbox.
  • write and send out the weekly internal FMO Newsletter.
  • write and contribute to different types of internal (social) media content.
  • assist in the execution of communication of other ongoing projects, most importantly Values in Action, a multiple-year culture program in which we bring our values and behaviors to life and stimulate cultural change.
  • support in the creation and dissemination of video content internally in the organization.
  • review our narrowcasting and produce a proposal for improvement.
  • crafting, conducting, and analyzing an internal comms survey and/or analyzing analytics.

The team

The Corporate Stakeholder Engagement department helps to promote and protect FMO’s brand and reputation as well as orchestrate engagement with our stakeholders. We aim to build trust and brand resilience by telling FMO’s story and communicating its values and results to inspire like-minded organizations to partner with us on our journey to enable entrepreneurs to build inclusive and sustainable prosperity.

The Corporate Stakeholder Engagement department consists of 15 professionals divided over two teams: Stakeholder Engagement and Communication and Creation. This internship will be within the Communication and Creation team. This team is focused on improving connections and alignment across FMO, to bring the outside in (in addition to the inside out), and to maximize the value of the respective stakeholder relations.

Your background

  • You are a third- or fourth-year HBO or Research University student, preferably studying communications, journalism, or any other field related to FMO’s activities (e.g., International Studies, European Studies, Development Studies) as long as you have a clear affinity with communications.
  • Excellent (native or near-native) verbal and written English skills.
  • You can self-manage your time and tasks, you have good (intercultural) communication skills, you are not afraid to take ownership of tasks and are not afraid to ask questions and learn from your mistakes.
  • You are creative and dare to experiment; you have a good eye for design, video and layout to make things look nice and get a message across.
  • You are able and willing to bring new insights from your perspective and studies and are not afraid to suggest improvements to FMO’s communication approach.
  • You are digitally savvy; you follow trends on Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and other social media platforms and see how to translate this to concepts for FMO’s internal online communities on Viva Engage.
  • You know how to use PowerPoint, Canva, and video editing software.
  • You have a high affinity with FMO’s values and mission.
  • You are available for at least 4 months, 4-5 days per week.
