Your role

In this role as Senior Structured Finance Associate, you support business development. You explain and negotiate the characteristics of the Nasira program with clients. You also monitor portfolios to ensure they follow internal and external regulations and guidelines. The ideal candidate will have already worked in the international financial sector for at least 7 years. The Senior Structured Finance Associate has the skills to deliver highly accurate work and has a solution oriented mentality.

Specific tasks include:

  • ­ Performing (on/off site) due diligence on financial institutions and MSME loan portfolios (frequent travel required).
  • ­ Performing quantitative analysis on large data sets of various MSME loan portfolios to support investment decisions.
  • ­ Structuring transactions, drafting/negotiating terms sheets, and providing solutions to clients.
  • ­ Drafting due diligence findings and investment proposals for Investment Credit Committee.
  •  Supporting deal execution and client relationship as part of the deal team.
  •  Operating the credit portfolio model to calculate the expected losses of Nasira transactions.
  •  Onboard new NASIRA clients to the monitoring platform.

For this role you maintain good relationships with the clients and discuss any topics or issues if required. You closely monitor the guaranteed portfolios both from a data quality and credit risk perspective. Furthermore, you provide information on portfolio risks and provide input for credit reviews and change requests. Finally, you will test and improve the reporting software.

FMO and the FI Nasira team

FMO’s Financial Institutions (FI) department invests in financial institutions that deliver strong impact for their local economies and communities. FMO developed a risk sharing program which takes the form of a loan portfolio guarantee / securitization called Nasira. This program allows and encourages financial institutions to invest in underserved Micro Small Medium Enterprises in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, Northern Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa. The European Commission and Dutch Government Fund (MASSIF) partially guarantee the program. The goal is to expand and introduce this program to Asia and Latin America in the next few years.

We aim to hire a Senior Structured Finance Associate for the FI Nasira team. The team consists of 2 Structured Finance Specialists, 2 Portfolio Officers, 1 Portfolio Analyst, and the team Manager. The Senior Structured Finance Associate will report to the Manager of FI Nasira team. The role involves various tasks, ranging from support in origination to monitoring existing portfolios. You will need to collaborate closely with many internal and external stakeholders. The job spans across all geographies within FMO’s mandate.

Your background

  • Master’s degree in economics, Finance, Business administration, Engineering or comparable studies.
  • Minimum 7 years working experience in the financial sector.
  • Good understanding of structured credit products and relevant banking regulations.
  • Knowledge of the credit products, credit processes, MSME lending and emerging markets.
  • Experience in banking, consultancy, or rating agencies is useful, especially in securitization, guarantee products, and risk sharing facilities.
